November 15

Today in class we began to creating our presentations. The article Asia and I were assigned tackled the topic of Behavioral Hurdles. Despite the article's attempts to discuss the issues of overconfidence and instant gratification in a financial sense, the things they mentioned could also be applied to our daily lives.

We also tend to overestimate our abilities, which can often lead us to falsely believe that we don’t need guidance. Being aware of our tendency to be overconfident about certain things can prevent individuals from being complacent and not asking for help even when necessary.

Similarly, being aware of the concept of instant gratification is also benefitial- instant gratification is defined as the desire to experience pleasure or fulfillment without delay or postponement. This means that our judgement is often clouded by current desires, ignoring the fact that sometimes, time is needed in order for things to yield better results. In order to overcome this obstancle, we can learn to teaching ourselves to be patient and to manage our desires for items immediately.
