Today in class we discussed the DBS Multiplier account. My parents have a DBS account, however I am not sure if they have a multiplier. I thought it was extremely interesting that the DBS Multiplier account's interest rate increased to 3.5% effective November 1st, 2017, because Mr. Bisset gave them a call a few weeks ago to ask them why their interest rates were significantly lower than Standard Chartered's (3.88%). This made me realize that even in big corporations like DBS, individuals/customers are able to play a significant role in governing what happens to their money by taking charge.
Because of this, I'm planning to ask my parents whether opening a multiplier account would be something I could do in the near future, as my dad and I have already made plans to open a bank account for myself before fall break.
